On Christmas Eve, TSA agent Ethan Kopek finds himself coerced by a mysterious individual known as The Traveler, who demands that he allow a suitcase to pass through security. The stakes are high, as The Traveler threatens the life of Ethan’s pregnant girlfriend, Nora, who also works at LAX. Inside the suitcase is Novichok, a lethal nerve agent intended to detonate on a flight to Washington, D.C. When Ethan attempts to seek assistance from a senior agent, The Traveler eliminates him, compelling Ethan to comply.
After the suitcase is cleared, Ethan has Mateo, an associate of The Traveler, flagged for additional screening. The Traveler then activates the bomb, forcing Ethan to race against time to disarm it. Following orders, Mateo kills Ethan’s superior, Sarkowski. Ethan discovers that Mateo is also a victim of The Traveler’s manipulation, as The Traveler and his sniper, known as The Watcher, have taken Mateo’s husband, Jesse, hostage. The Traveler provides Ethan with instructions on how to disarm the explosive. As they attempt to move Sarkowski’s body, Mateo is ordered to eliminate Ethan. However, his plastic gun malfunctions after firing too many rounds, resulting in an explosion that kills him.
The Traveler then directs The Watcher to pursue Nora, but he is ultimately killed by Jesse, who manages to escape captivity. Ethan learns that the bomb is aimed at Congresswoman Grace Turner, who had previously lobbied unsuccessfully for a bill favoring private contractors. The Traveler’s plan is to frame the attack as a Russian retaliation following the deaths of two mobsters, with the explosion serving to advance the bill. As Nora persuades LAPD Detective Elena Cole to allow the plane to take off, Ethan stealthily enters the cargo hold. He successfully disarms the bomb and confronts The Traveler, ultimately trapping him in a vacuum-sealed refrigerator containing the nerve agent, leading to The Traveler’s demise.
